Every aspect of the hunt including our travels, food, camp and staff services were absolutely first class. We did not expect such a good service and gourmet food at the tiny camp nowhere in the middle of Altai mountains of Mongolia. An of course I am very happy with my trophy.

Altai Ibex
(Capra Ibex Sibirica)
Altai Ibex the largest of two different ibexes in Mongolia is mostly found in steep cliffs and narrow canyons with loose rock strips. Ibex feeds in the morning and evening and rest in shadow for much of the day. Major hunting areas are rocky cliffs of drier part of Altai range in Hovd and Govi-Altai provinces. From rock paintings found in Altai Mountains, scientists prove that ibex were tamed by humans to be made domestic goats around 8,500 years ago. Altai Ibex has red brown coat with light patch and the coat color of older males get darker. A male ibex has a long hair beard. A male Altai ibex stands at around 3-3.2 ft (105 -110 cms) tall and weighs 280 lb (90-110 kgs).
Hunting season: June 1 – October 15
Average trophy size: 37-45 inches in length

Gobi Ibex
(Capra Sibirica Hagenbecki)
Gobi Ibex is the closest relative to Altai Ibex. Gobi Ibex inhabits rocky mountains of the southern part of Altai range that stretches deep into the Gobi desert, known as Gobi Altai range. Gobi Ibex is smaller than its Altai relative due to scarce vegetation and limited water source in its dry habitat. Gobi Ibex has brown coat and light patch under its belly and between legs. A male Gobi ibex is over 3 ft (95-105 cms) tall and weighs 260 lb (80-100 kgs).
Hunting season: June 1 – November 30
Average trophy size: 32-40 inches in length
