Maral Elk
(Cervus Elaphus)
This subspecies of Siberian elk is found in all major mountain region of Mongolia from Altai to Khangai, Huvsgul to Hentii mountains. Maral elk inhabiting forests of these ranges, has been hunted onto the brink of extinction by local poachers for its reproductive organ used in medicine that supports men’s sexual impotence. During its mating season, from mid September to mid October, one can hear powerful calls by Maral bulls in the forests. Maral bears reddish brown coat in summer time and in winter it turns into light brown. An adult male Maral elk has antlers with 5-7 points at one side. Its body length is around 8-9 ft (238-270 cms) and it weighs 600 – 750 lb (270-300 kgs).

Roe Deer
(Capreolus Capreolus Pygargus)
Siberian Roe Deer is also inhabits all forested areas of Mongolia. Roe deer grazes in open meadows of forests, mountain slopes or river beds at evening darkness. But in cold periods of winter and spring it is found grazing during the day time. Roe deer mates in August and one male gathers 2-3 females during rutting.

Wild Boar
(Sus Scrofa Nigripes)
Mongolia represents the easternmost population of Wild Boar in Central Asia. Though Mongolia had much larger population of wild boar 20-30 years ago, now the numbers were sharply reduced by limited habitat due to timber industries, cultivation and poaching. Wild boars mostly live in family herds. Major habitats of wild boar are mountain slopes, dense forests, sandy banks of lakes and rivers, oases with willow trees, dense bushes and shrubs of poplar and pea trees and pea shrubs near forested areas. The body length of an adult wild boar is 5 – 6 ft (150-175 cms) and it weighs up to 500 lb (200 kgs).
