Every aspect of the hunt
including our travels, food, camp and staff services were
absolutely first class. We did not expect such a good service
and gourmet food at the tiny camp nowhere in the middle of
Altai mountains of Mongolia. An of course I am very happy
with my trophy.

Three
great ranges-the Mongol Altai (plus Gobi Altai), Khangai
and Hentii dominate the majority of Mongolian territory.
Of these the most picturesque and largest is the Mongol
Altai mountain range. The Mongol Altai has many summits
reaching 4000 meters above sea level and stretches for 900
kilometers from the north-western part of the country to
the south, through the territories of Bayan-Olgii and Khovd
provinces. Over 20 peaks are capped with eternal snow in
the Altai Mountain Range. These include Tavan Bogd, the
highest peak of Mongolia towering at 4,374 meters above
the sea level, Munkh Khairkhan (4,204 m), Sutai (4,226m)
and Tsambagarav (4,195 m). The Altai is mainly composed
of rocky mountains and there are many glaciers along the
high ridges. Altai region is dotted with hundreds of fresh
water lakes and rivers. Some of the largest rivers in the
country including Khovd river, Buyant river and Bulgan are
made up of hundreds of small springs of Altai Range. Altai
is the habitat of Agali sheep, ibex, different cats, including
endangered species of snow leopard and lynx, as well as,
most common animals like wolves, fox, and elks. The region
is separated from central Mongolian mountainous region by
Mongol els sand stretch and the Great Lakes Depression.
There are some of the most famous and beautiful lakes of
the country located in this region including Khar-Us Nuur
Lake, Durgun Lake, Khyargas Nuur, Uvs Lake, Tolbo Nuur and
Dayan Nuur lakes. Some of these lakes and rivers are ideal
fishing and bird hunting fishing and bird-watching. One
the whole, Altai mountain area offers some of the most exciting
hunts in the world through its magnificent Altai Argali,
which is regarded as the ‘King of the all sheep’
Hunting conditions
Most
hunting areas in Altai Mountains are characterized by steep
slopes rocky cliffs and high summits. Many of its highest
summits are covered with eternal snow. The high elevation

and physical strength. Distances between camps and hunting
areas are got over by 4WD jeep and games are approached
by walking or horse riding. Altai Argali inhabits wide areas
including the regions of the highest summits and deep valleys
between them. Ibex are found among high rocky cliffs. Small
woods mainly found in shady sides of high ridges are home
to Altai mountain elks. Weather in summer is mostly sunny
and pleasant cool but however, snow fall and cold weather
is common in early autumn.

It takes about 2.5 hours to reach any of two provincial
centers of Altai region – Khovd and Ulgii – by air. From
the towns approximately 8 hours drive by 4WD is required
